Prototype storage system designed by CNR-ITAE and installed by LAYER at the ITAE-CNR site in Messina. The new storage system is based on Saft Flex'ion™ lithium-ion batteries. Through this and the other prototypes, appropriate control algorithms are being developed to facilitate increased production from renewable sources and optimal smart grid management in the power grids of the smaller islands, in collaboration with partners SEA and SOPES who manage these grids.
